Humanity First
Australia, incorporated in November 2004, is an
Australian based charitable trust established to
promote and safeguard the preservation of human
life and dignity. It is a non-political, non-sectarian
international relief and development agency that
works with the world's poorest and most vulnerable
people.
Initially conceived in 1991, Humanity First was
conceptualised to be the answer to the existing
and imminent humanitarian crises within various
parts of the world. Amid the backdrop of the relief
operations in the Balkans in 1994, Humanity First
was registered in the UK and was formally recognised
as a humanitarian relief organisation.
In the years following its registration, on numerous
occasions the world witnessed the power that Mother
Nature can unleash, and to these disasters Humanity
First was on hand to respond and provide aid to
those affected. From its initial conceptualisation
in 1991, and with the success of its relief operations
evident for all to see, Humanity First has been
registered in more than 20 countries.
The expansion of the organisation educated Humanity
First to change its primary focus from disaster
relief to implementing initiatives that will help
sustain communities in the longer term through arming
individuals and communities with the health and
skills to allow them to become self sufficient.
It is through Humanity First’s ever growing
global volunteer skills pool and its base of donors
that has allowed the organization to respond to
a wider range of projects around the globe fast
and efficiently.
